Thawing out...

A dune at Rosy Mound [click to enlarge]

In the afternoon, after it stopped snowing & temps "warmed" into the low 40s, Lois (who is celebrating the near-end of her school term) & I did some shopping and then made a brief reconnaisance of the newly reopened Rosy Mound Natural Area, a "classic Great Lakes dune system" (according to the Ottawa County Parks Commission web site) off the southern edge of town. It was waaay too f---ing cold & windy to venture very far, but managed to get a couple pictures of a typical Great Lakes dune which, being a very large sandhill covered with vegetation, ain't nothing like an East Coast dune. We'll return there another day, when we can really explore all the trails, including the trek up & down the dunes & over to the lake itself.
