Damp holiday
Friday turned into a good weather day, continued cool (temps in the 50s & 60s) but with a clear & brilliant blue sky. I took advantage of the opportunity & managed a good long hike through Rosy Mound (see new photos here). Am so glad I went then 'cause we've been back in the cloudy, rainy, thunderstormy pattern for the last 3 days, making the holiday weekend a literal washout.
Never mind...what's better to do on a rainy holiday than go to the movies, so spent a couple hours Saturday with Mac, his son & daughter-in-law being amused at a screening of The Day After Tomorrow, one of the most over-hyped and silliest disaster films I've ever seen. But much better, spent yesterday evening at Mac's as he hosted a very pleasant holiday get-together/indoor barbecue for all 7 of us, plus his son Chris' 2 wonderful English bulldogs.

Law enforcement in each County reports that there is no standing water left on roads. Local streams remain relatively high... but these streams should fall during the afternoon. Now: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to develop over the area through 4:30 PM. Look for pea size hail...wind gusts to 40 mph...and rainfall at the rate of one half inch per hour. Urban flooding is possible due to the saturated ground.
