Summer?

Well, today's the first truly warm day we've had — 82° at the moment — and I'm missing the balmy 70s already. The only redeeming factor is low humidity...but this makes almost a full week without rain or significant cloudiness, which is saying something! I hope it doesn't portend a hot, dry summer....

Made it up to P.J. Hoffmaster State Park on Thursday for the first time. Lois took me there when I visited several years ago & it was lovely, but I've been so enamored of Rosy Mound & the lake & river here.... Anyway, am glad I went but most of the photos I took didn't come out very well...the few that did can be seen here.

Also on Thursday, finally bought myself a bicycle, with Mac's vital assistance...yes, really...something I've thought of doing for a long time. This is a great town for riding, with its wide streets & mellow, casual mid-Western attitude. And there's a wide bike path along the Lakeshore road that also passes Rosy Mound (& goes all the way to Holland, 25 miles south), so theoretically I can bike there instead of driving...Rosy Mound, I mean, not Holland. 'Course, now all I have to do is (re)learn how to ride it.... On the other hand, being so out of shape, it may take me all summer to build up enough stamina to go anywhere but around the block.......
