March thaw?

Franklin Street melt
Franklin Street melts, really

It's snowing again. Snow. Again. Sigh. Which gives me all the more motivation to post a few photos I took during the all-too-brief thaw we had last weekend. As proof of life. When the temp actually went over 40 & things began to melt, some. Really. Yes. A thaw. Really. Sigh.

But it's snowing so hard that the lovely patches of bare ground & deck I was just getting accustomed to viewing again have all disappeared. And oh, the flock of poor red-winged blackbirds that arrived from southern parts just this morning, expecting spring! They're voraciously devouring every bit of seed in all my feeders, crowding out the year-round residents, the cardinals & chickadees & juncos & sparrows & doves & squirrels, poor things. Which means I'm gonna have to get dressed & venture out into the weather wilderness to refill all the feeders. Rats. Sigh.

Oh the cruelty of nature! To have given us such a sweet glimpse of hope & then meanly to snatch it so quickly away.......
